Coming Soon to GRAM: Three Must-See Exhibitions for 2025–2026

The Grand Rapids Art Museum is opening its winter season with exhibitions that explore how we see the world, how we respond to it and how we tell our stories through art.

The Matter of Awe (Nov. 22, 2025 – Aug. 16, 2026)

This first winter exhibition brings together a broad range of landscape paintings that highlight the many ways artists interpret the natural world. Some works feel calm and expansive, others more dramatic or atmospheric. Together, they create a steady, meditative experience that invites visitors to settle in and notice the details that shape each environment.

Parisa Ghaderi’s For Dancing in the Streets (Nov. 22, 2025 – Aug. 16, 2026)

This exhibit shifts the tone completely. Her multi-channel video installation uses movement, layered imagery, and found footage to reflect on the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in Iran. The work surrounds viewers, creating a space that feels both intimate and charged—an environment shaped by memory, protest, and personal reflection.

As We Rise (Dec. 6, 2025 – April 26, 2026)

As We Rise, offers a powerful photographic journey through communities across the African diaspora. The images vary widely: portraits, street moments, interior scenes, everyday interactions. Each photograph offers its own viewpoint, and together they form a compelling look at connection, identity, and the rhythm of daily life.

This season at GRAM encourages wandering—moving from the quiet pull of landscape to the intensity of video to the warmth and complexity found in contemporary photography. It’s a thoughtful mix, and an ideal time to explore the museum.
