This bronze sculpture honors Apollo Astronaut Roger B. Chaffee, a Grand Rapids native who trained for NASA’s first three-man flight and tragically died in the Apollo 1 mission. Created by local sculptor J. Brett Grill, the statue stands over seven feet tall outside the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum in downtown Grand Rapids.
